In 1990, members of the community recognized a need for a medical safety net for the uninsured in Spalding County. They founded the Hope Health Clinic and housed it in St. George’s Episcopal Church’s basement. It was staffed by medical professionals who volunteered their time to provide care to the uninsured with chronic health issues. Over the years, Hope Health grew and moved to a larger facility and added paid staff. In January 2011, Hope Health merged with the Spalding County Health Department’s acute care medical clinic and dental clinic.
Today, the Hope Health Clinic of Spalding County is located at 409 W. Solomon Street offering primary medical and dental services for a nominal fee to residents of Spalding County who otherwise do not have access to healthcare.
